AHS Tennis 2010

December 11th, 2009

For the first time in 2010, All Hallows’ Middle School students, with adequate tennis experience, are  invited to participate in the Catholic fixtures, and will participate with the Year 8 students in the E division of the competition.

Competition

All Hallows’ has successfully participated for many years.  The competition includes approximately 120 teams in 24 divisions from 13 schools, such as Stuartholme, Loretto, St. Rita’s and Lourdes Hill.

Each year we field approximately 15 teams.  Years 5-8 play E division, Year 9 D division, Year 10 C division and Years 11 and 12 B division with the top two open (yr 10-12) teams playing A division.

Fixtures for 2010 commenced Saturday 28th February and concluded with the Finals on Sunday 30th May 2010 at the Tennyson Tennis Centre.

  • Years 5-8 (E division) and Year 9 (D division) play Saturday mornings from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
  • Years 10-12 play Saturday afternoons from 12.30pm to approximately 4.30pm

Venue

The Catholic fixtures are played on a home and away basis.  For 2010 the Q.C.L.T.A complex at Morningside is our home venue.  The address of this complex is 123 Beverley Street, Morningside.

Uniform

Girls are required to wear the school sports uniform and school cap/hat.

Grading Day

Grading Day for Years 5-12 is held Morningside Tennis Centre.  This day allows us to arrange students into graded teams.

Weekly Team Training

Once teams have been selected, players are required to attend a regular weekly practice.  Scheduling of these practices will be organised after the team grading day.

Parent Roster/Participation

It is vital that a parent from each team is present at every match.  Parents are not permitted to umpire, coach etc, but are there to supervise and make “wet match” decisions and if necessary to report unbecoming behavior to the school.  Full details of rules, draw, roster and procedures will be given to each player to take home to parents.

Parent Support Group

All Hallows’ would like to invite any parents who can help in any way or who would like to be part of Tennis at All Hallows’ to join this group.  The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 16th June @ 7.30pm in the Potter Room (next to the library).  Subsequent meetings will be published in the school newsletter and school calendar.

Cost

The cost for each player for the 2010 season will be $250.00 (made payable to All Hallows’).  This covers team registration, hire of courts, balls, trophies, team coaching and training days.
